When I think of all my favorite Southern dishes, cheese grits is one of the first things that comes to my mind. I've eaten grits for as long as possible, and while you can find grits all over the country, there's no doubt that Southerners have an undeniable and unwavering love for the dish of coarsely ground cornmeal that transcends every state border.
Not only is it the perfect delicious and hearty breakfast dish, but it's also frequently used in Southern seafood dishes too! (Shrimp, grits, fish, grits, lobster grits, etc.)
* Ingredients :
This is for 4 servings
° 3/4 C. Quick-cooking grits
° 1/2 c full fat milk
° 1/2 m water
° 1/4 tsp. salt
° 4 t. butter
* Directions :
In a medium saucepan, bring water, milk and butter to a boil. Reduce the heat and add the granules and salt to whisk quickly. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes until the pebbles begin to thicken. View them so they do not stick . Remove from fire and serve!
